This QCF approved course is delivered in a classroom and in the work environment. This is a 30 credit course designed to give students the underpinning knowledge to work in an administrative environment, as well as assessing their competency in the work place. Students will learn three mandatory units dealing with communication, self evaluation and work in the business environment. They will then select 17 credits from 94 optional units, based on the duties and obligations in their present role. This programme is similar to the diploma option but with fewer units and obligations to the unit level.

The total unemployment rate was 2.62 million or 8.3% of the working population as of September 2011, and is expected to reach 3 million (Office of National Statistics ONS) any day soon. Female unemployment is standing at 1.09 million, and highest in the South east.

I joined career Studies College in 2010 to study for an NVQ level 3 course in health and Social care. The support given me during this course has been an invaluable tool in improving my career development. The assessors and teachers at Career studies have given me the opportunity to join an unstinting and dynamic team whose philosophy lies on developing a sense of knowledge and professionalism in all they do. I have now been given another opportunity to complete my PTTLS award and well and truly on the way to developing the career I crave and ultimately my dreams.
